The Coalition for Cruelty Free Africa works with communities, governments and partner organisations to reduce animal cruelty across Africa. Our programmes focus on education, humane dog population management, ending the dog and cat meat trade, protecting wildlife and improving animal welfare legislation.

Nigeria's Barbaric Dog and Cat meat trade involves terrified dogs that are stolen from surrounding countries such as Niger and transported into Nigeria.
While Nigeria has a growing number of pet owners who have dogs and cats as companions and not for consumption, these owners live in constant fear of having their companion stolen by local dog or cat thieves, knowing their pet would be sold to a dog trader or butcher, for quick cash.

Ghana continues to consumes Dog and Cats across it 16 regions with no government humane spay and neutering program the animals are being bred for consumption, neglected or many mis treated by their owners lack of education of looking after animals.

Eating dogs is illegal in Zambia, but trading them is not. The Zambian victim dogs are either homeless street dogs or stolen – many are beloved pets. Once caught, the dogs are crammed into a truck without water, food, or adequate ventilation, in searing African heat, and raced to the border. A few yards inside the Congo they are brutally slaughtered in local markets.
CFCFA was setup to stamp out Animal Cruelty in Africa. To promote Animal Protection and Education to help improve the lives of Animals and the People of Africa.
